Find the Human Face in Your Data to Uncover the Story

You can bring your boring data to life if you’ll approach your numbers, not as an analyst, but as a journalist.

Data just counts the thousands of decisions that human beings make – products they buy, taxes they pay, homes they can no longer afford. The first step is to find a human face that represents the people hiding in that data. Who is making these decisions? Why? What does that person look like? In this video, Bloomberg News reporter Lizzy O’Leary gives you an example.

    I admire your work and appreciate the generous amount of information you share. I ordered two copies of your EXCELLENT ‘Speaking PowerPoint’ book for my training unit’s library–love the picture / wallpaper concept, btw.

    I also viewed your storytelling webinar and found it very useful and impactful. (My favorite professors never lectured but always told stories)

    Have you considered writing a ‘storytelling secrets…’ book?

    1. Hello Rabbil – thanks for your kind comments. I’m very glad you found Speaking PowerPoint useful and that you’ve made it available to your staff. That is my ultimate goal – to provide the workplace training that I so desperately wanted when I started working with PowerPoint.

      In fact, I am writing a second book, tentatively called “Storytelling in the Boardroom”. The materials I shared during the webinar is some of my early thinking for that.
