Quit Boring your Audience: the Best Way to Get them Interested
October 17, 2011The #1 Problem with Tables: Sorting Data Alphabetically
October 26, 2011Sometimes it comes in handy to use numbers within your text to refer to numbers in your diagram. Like this slide.
You might just use a circle shape with a number inside it. But then, when you update the text, you also have to move the circle around manually. Time-consuming!
Instead, use the Windings2 font. It creates a number inside a circle that stays in place even as you update your text. You can also change the font size without having to resize the circle. Here’s a handy printable cheat sheet.

Windings gives numbers from 0-9. Is there available numbers say from 10-99?
Not on the webdings or wingdings fonts. But there are many free and paid fonts that specifically have numbers inside circles

Just found your numbers-in-circles hints. Had never thought to try Wingdings and the font worked beautifully! Thanks much.
thanks it works very good but it just works to 10 not more
What I really would like to see is the equivalent of Word’s ‘SeqNum’ field, that could be placed in the text of any shape, and able to automatically update should another shape with a SeqNum with the same name is inserted, and also have the shape SeqNum ordering settable, i.e. be able to move up up and down the order, and not have to set an explicit ‘Continue numbering at’ value.
