1. Business audiences don’t read text documents. PowerPoint is replacing text documents in many businesses. Why? PowerPoint breaks ideas into discussion-sized chunks. PowerPoint forces brevity on writers. PowerPoint supports visuals.
2. PowerPoint can give the “illusion of understanding”. For some reason, ideas expressed in PowerPoint appear more authoratative than the same ideas expressed in a text document (even incoherent ideas) .
3. Audiences don’t speak up. We tolerate bad PowerPoint day after day. Asking a question makes us feel dumb. Why is that?
